PlayStation 3 gamers had to wait until 2009 for a Katamari game. Katamari Forever was mostly a compilation of levels from previous games, with a new story and a few new levels. Touch My Katamari was released in 2012 exclusively for the PlayStation Vita. Tap My Katamari, a version for mobile devices with iOS or Android, was released in January 2016.

“Katamari Forever”, also known in Japan as “Katamari Damacy Tribute”, is a 3rd-person puzzle action game in the “Katamari” series of games. The game was developed by Genki and was released by Bandai Namco Entertainment in 2009. For those who are long-time fans of this series, it is not too strange with the game’s plot, revolving around the young character, The Prince. When assisting his father, the King of All Cosmos, in recreating stars and planets using balls called Katamari to suck around objects. In the “Katamari Forever” storyline, the King of All Cosmos has lost his memory after a sudden accident, causing the disappearance of all the stars in the sky. Players will continue to play The Prince with the task of finding the lost stars and returning them to their original positions. The game has 34 stages, half of which will take place in the mind of the King of All Cosmos. The game screen is black and white, and the player’s goal is to bring the color back and restore the King’s memory. The other half of the game takes place at the present time, where RoboKing, a robot version of the King of All Cosmos created by The Prince and his cousins, becomes out of control and destroys all the stars in the sky.
